Meet our group:

Brandon Bunderson, bbunderson@bren.ucsb.edu, comes from the slickrock and junipers of the Colorado Plateau (central Utah, SW Colorado). His undergraduate alma mater is Colorado State University, were he majored in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism. Brandon's professional experience includes seasonal positions with Colorado State Parks, Vail Resorts, and the National Park Service. Career interests include public lands management and federal agency administration.  Additionally, Mr. Bunderson would like to be involved with international and/or national NGO’s dealing with global governance or energy issues.  Check out his resume by clicking here.

Dakota Corey, dcorey@bren.ucsb.edu, grew up in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and graduated from Colorado College where she studied Psychology. Her past jobs include: senior instructor for the Ocean Futures Society's Catalina Environmental Leadership Program (CELP), conservation corps educator for the Gore Range Natural Science School and the Eagle County Youth Conservation Corps, and outdoor sports master ski/snowboard tuner, sales, management. Presently, Dakota interns as a conservation assistant for The Nature Conservancy where she is preparing a watershed management plan for the Lower Santa Clara River. At the same time she works for UCSB's Department of Environmental Health and Safety as the Environmental Health Program Assistant focusing primarily on air and water quality monitoring and reporting. After graduating from Bren she will seek a career in water resources management that focuses on the restoration of surface waters. Check out her resume by clicking here.

Chris Helmer, chelmer@bren.ucsb.edu, comes to us from San Diego, California. He is a former banana slug turned gaucho having come from the University of California at Santa Cruz where among other things he studied both Earth Science and Environmental Studies. Chris brings his expertise from his former employment as a State Lifeguard San Diego, and from USGS – Pacific Science Center, and RBF Consulting. After mastering the waves of Santa Barbara County Mr. Helmer plans to pursue a career in water resource management private sector consulting. Check out his resume by clicking here.

Amy Locke, alocke@bren.ucsb.edu, is a proud citizen of Mission Viejo and alumna of the University of Notre Dame where she studied Environmental Science and Anthropology.  She brings to our project her professional experience of managing a camera-trap project and invasive weed study at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy during the summer of 2007.  Further relevant experience includes a nine week summer field course at the University of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center (UNDERC), where she took classes as well as designed and implemented her own research project in forest ecology. Post-Bren, Miss Locke hopes to engage her interests in open space management and planning.  Check out her resume by clicking here.

Matthew Meyers, P.G., mmeyers@bren.ucsb.edu, calls California home. He graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz where he studied Earth Science. Matt brings his expertise as a Professional Geologist after having worked in the environmental and geotechnical consulting industries. Presently, Matt is working on river restoration monitoring studies on both the Merced River (for ICESS) and San Joaquin River (for the California Department of Water Resources).  After graduating from Bren, Mr. Meyers will seek a career in water resources management with an aim to restore surface waters and freshwater fisheries.
